VERTIGO & VESTIBULAR PHYSIOTHERAPY

Do you suffer from disabling dizziness or vertigo? Have you had a concussion? Does it cause you to lose your balance, trip or even fall? Vestibular Physiotherapy is a targeted assessment and treatment approach that helps to determine the cause of your dizziness and then use specific techniques and exercises to improve your symptoms and help you get back to feeling normal.

Beth Bates is a Registered Physiotherapist. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics, Master’s degree in biomedical physiology and Kinesiology from SFU and her Physiotherapy Master’s from UBC. She worked as a Kinesiologist for eight years before becoming a Physiotherapist. Her treatment philosophy is to teach patient what they can do to improve and maintain optimal functioning. Beth has completed numerous post-graduate courses in acupuncture, IMS/Dry needling, vestibular (vertigo) treatment, manual therapy and exercise prescription. Beth completed post-graduate training in Australia where she learned from leaders in her profession about spinal mobilization and manual therapy. When not at work she loves rock climbing, playing soccer, hiking and volunteering in the community at the Cool Aid Community Health Centre.

Gladys is an experienced physiotherapist. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from University of Alberta and master’s degree in Rehabilitation Science from McGill University. Gladys has over 20 years of clinical and teaching experience in physiotherapy. She has worked in Canada and Hong Kong. She specializes in pain management and geriatric rehabilitation. She enjoys working with elderly patients and helping them restore their optimal function. Meet Cole, a fitness enthusiast hailing from the picturesque Vancouver Island, surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the West Coast. Cole first developed a love for the outdoors that would eventually intertwine with his journey and transition into the world of fitness and exercise rehabilitation.

Cole spent a majority of his early life on the baseball field, a pivotal moment that led him to discover his true passion in health and fitness. Fuelled by the desire for personal growth and well-being, he slowly transitioned from the diamond to the gym, embarking on a transformative journey that would redefine his lifestyle.

Recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. Cole has immersed himself in the scientific study of human movement and exercise which has served as a foundation for his comprehensive understanding of the human body as it relates to movement. Cole’s academic background enables him to tailor exercise rehabilitation programs that are not only effective but also rooted in research support and foundational principles of healing.

Cole is in the process of registering as a Kinesiologist. Mark graduated from the University of Alberta with a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy. Since graduating he has gained extensive experience in private practice as he has developed a keen interest in any hip and knee pain conditions. Mark’s biggest strength is being able to listen and pull out the exact information necessary to target treatment to get results. Mark’s G-ma has made a big space in his healing heart for working with our ageing population and their Physio needs. Mark’s gentle confidence lends to his great results often after the first session. Whatever your goal is Mark will help you get there. Whether those goals are high level sports performance or completing everyday tasks, Mark has the skills. Mark stays current by taking a variety of courses through the Advanced Physical Therapy Education Institute. Mark’s passion for sports continues outside of work as he loves playing ice and floor hockey in the winter, water skiing in the summer with a mix of kickboxing and racquet sports in between.
